Al-Qaeda South Asia commander among nine alleged terrorists remanded in police custody

Nine alleged terrorists affiliated to various banned outfits were presented in court Saturday (today) and were remanded in police custody for ten days.

Earlier, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday apprehended these terrorists affiliated to various banned outfits in Karachi.

CTD Senior Superintendent of Police Omer Shahid, flanked by in-charge CTD Raja Umer Khattab said in a media briefing that arrested terrorists were involved in attacking police stations, political activists and MQM MPA Manzar Imam.

Al-Qaeda South Asia commander Faizur Rehman aka Abdullah aka Danial and his accomplices were among those apprehended.

CTD officials said Faizur Rehman was second in command of Al-Qaeda South Asia in Karachi.

Other militants were affiliated to banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

A target killer was also among the arrested terrorists.

Suicide jackets, bombs and other explosives were recovered from the arrested terrorists, CTD officials added.
