Ever since India claimed that it conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads along the Line of Control in Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been applauded by all, cutting across party lines. The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have also showered praise on the PM with Arvind Kejriwal saluting the PM, Indian Express reported.
But in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) seems to be trying to make some good for itself out of the ‘so-called’ strikes by Indian Army.
Banner with a ‘life-sized’ photo of PM Modi along with the statement of Lt Ranbir Dalbir Singh have come up in the state.
“We reserve the right to respond to any act of the adversary at a time and place of our choosing,” Lt Gen Dalbir Singh had said a day after terrorists attacked army brigade headquarters in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir on September 19.
The banner also congratulates ‘Indian Army and Central government for the surgical strikes carried out in Pakistan occupied Kashmir’.
The banner – which might have been put up by local volunteers of the party – seem to be an attempt at winning voters confidence by raking up the cross-border issue which has gripped both the nations and creating tensions.
