President urges nation to promote brotherhood, tolerance

President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the nation to promote bonds of brotherhood, spirit of tolerance and peace by serving the country in the light of messages embodied in the holy month of Muharram ul Haram.

In his message for the holy month of Muharram ul Haram, the first Islamic month of 1438 Hijra, the President said, the beginning of the Islamic calendar coincides with this month which had been of great respect and esteem for the Muslim Ummah on many counts.

The Muslim Ummah must ensure unity and solidarity among its ranks and set aside all its differences by emulating the great message of sacrifices of this month, he added.

The President urged the nation to serve the country with the same lofty spirit conveyed by this holy month, as it was the path towards progress and prosperity and countering of terrorism and extremism.

He also asked the nation to rally behind the national institutions working for the stability of the country.

The President conveying his good wishes on the occasion also prayed for the prosperity of the countrymen and the Muslim Ummah.

During this month, the supreme sacrifices by the grandson of our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) taught us a great lesson, he observed.

He further said the month had great significance in the Islamic civilisation which had made it distinct from other civilisations.

The month also reminded us about the historic migration of Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) from Makkah, and the consequent bonds of brotherhood forged between the Mohajir and the residents of Medina and their sacrifices.

This message of Islamic civilisation further promoted bonds of brotherhood and sacrifice besides, contributed to the global peace and tolerance, he noted.
