The Foreign Office (FO) on Monday denied Indian claims that it had captured a Pakistani boat having nine crew members from the Arabian Sea, off Gujarat.
The FO said, “No Pakistani sailor or fisherman has gone missing from Pakistan.”
Earlier on Sunday, in a statement issued by the Coast Guard PRO, Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman said: “In the prevailing security scenario, wherein enhanced vigil with deployment of ships and aircraft by the Indian Coast Guard is being exercised off the Gujarat coast, the Indian Coast Guard ship Samudra Pavak apprehended a Pakistani boat with 09 crew members at about 1015 hours.”
Tensions between the two neighbours flared up following the Uri attack and over the use of brute force by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. So far, over 110 innocent Kashmiris have been martyred as occupying Indian forces used force to quell protests in the valley that initiated after the killing of Kashmiri youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
