Film celebrities in India and internationally are perpetually surrounded by rumours of going under the knife for beautification purposes but Sonam Kapoor, whose blog about fighting “strict rules” of beauty has gone viral, says she doesn’t believe in resorting to artificial procedures to alter her looks.
“I am not a big believer in cosmetic treatments. Artificial cosmetic or corrective treatments are damaging, especially if you see all the studies,” said the actor. “I don’t judge anybody who does it… to each their own. But I would rather use products that are safe; the ones that I have control over and not have some doctor do it all for me.”
In a post titled I Didn’t Wake Up Like This, Kapoor, on Wednesday, delved into the insecurities she harboured through her adolescence. The Prem Ratan Dhan Payo actor said that when she embarked on her journey to becoming a film star, she also “embarked on a series of unhealthy behaviours,” including a diet that had her eating pineapples all day.
“There is a risk in being extremely modest. I am always complimented for my smile and told that it’s my best feature. I also feel that my smile is my best feature,” said Kapoor. “I always had nice teeth, never got had braces or cavities. The only issue is that over the years, your teeth start getting stained because of food.”
