Sonakshi Sinha who is set to star in Noor, which is based on Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz’s novel Karachi, You’re Killing Me, said that she won’t be portraying the role of a Pakistani journalist.
At the trailer launch of her upcoming film Force 2, the actress was asked about her role in Noor.
She said: “All I can say is that I am not playing a Pakistani journalist in the film. The film is based on a book, which is written by a Pakistani author. The story has been adapted into a Mumbai backdrop.”
It was earlier revealed that the Bollywood adaptation of Pakistani bestseller had made a last-minute change in the script to base the movie in Mumbai instead of Karachi following a ban on Pakistan-based movie Happy Bhag Jayegi.
According to earlier reports, Sonakshi was set to play the role of a journalist, Noor, based in Karachi.
The book is a bittersweet tale of a single young woman, Noor, who is attached to her profession as a journalist-writer. Directed by debutante Sunhil Sippy, the movie revolves around Noor’s misadventures and love life as she navigates her way through Mumbai.
The movie, also starring Purab Kohli, Shibani Dandekar and Kanan Gill, is scheduled to hit the big screens on April 7 next year.
Besides that, Sonakshi is continuing her action queen avatar in her next film Force 2 after Akira.
