US State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner has urged Pakistan and India to avoid issuing statements against each other.

While briefing the media, Toner said that the United States wants Pakistan and India to bring their bilateral relations back to normal. He said that the whole region will benefit from the amicable ties between the two South Asian countries.

He said that his country expects Pakistan and India to be practical in defusing tensions between them.

The spokesman went on to say that the US wants a resumption of dialogue between the two nuclear-armed countries.

Toner also said that Pakistan has made progress in the war against terrorism and has stepped up its efforts against some terror groups.
