Saif Ali Khan condemns MNS call to ban Pakistani actors

Among all the Bollywood bigwigs, we now have Saif Ali Khan who has joined the bandwagon condemning Indian nationalist party’s call to ban Pakistani actors.

In an interview with The Indian Express, the Phantom star extended his support to all Pakistani artists saying they not only spread talent but peace and love. Saif was asked whether he is in favour of banning or encouraging Pakistani artists to work in India to which he replied, “It should be encouraged.”

“The world is open to our film industry and our film industry is open to talents from around the world especially cross-border. We are artists who talk about love and peace,” he added.

However, he believes the final decision depends on the government. “The government has to decide these things. The government must make decisions about law and order and who is allowed and who isn’t,” he said.

Recently, Indian nationalist party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) gave Pakistani actors a 48-hour ultimatum to leave India in the wake of the Uri attack in held-Jammu and Kashmir.

After all the backlash Saif received for his last film Phantom — that had anti-Pakistan elements — from Pakistan, his support for Pakistani artists comes as a big move and shows that art and culture indeed have no boundaries.
