Army keeping close eye on eastern border: ISPR DG

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa on Tuesday said the armed forces are closely monitoring the situation on the border with India and are ready to respond to “any situation”.

“We are closely monitoring the situation on the eastern border and we are fully prepared to respond,” he said while briefing journalists after an operations and security review meeting which was headed by Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif.

Bajwa also gave a briefing on steps taken for border management by the armed forces.

Work has been completed on 20 posts set up for border management, Bajwa said.

He said border management would be most effective when Pakistani efforts are matched by the Afghan side.

He said that women facilitator of terrorist organisations working in the country have been arrested.

Asim said that few terrorists entering the country were apprehended along with women who facilitated them in accommodation of those men.

The women have been kept in an undisclosed locality with respect and action would be taken against them in accordance per the law, Asim added.

He further briefed the media on steps taken for border management by the armed forces.

Work has been completed on 20 posts set up for border management, Bajwa said.
