China will soon become the largest investor in Pakistan’s poultry industry and heavy investment is expected in this sector even before IPEX 2017, said Raza Khursand, the chief organiser of the International Poultry Expo 2016 (IPEX) held in Lahore last week.
Briefing the general council meeting of the PPA, Khursand said that Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Brazil, Indonesia and Turkey were also investing in this sector.
He thanked Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir for facilitating the poultry industry and delivering an address to poultry industrialists during his visit to the expo.
“It has not only given poultry farmers a new hope and courage, but also heightened trust of foreign investor in the local poultry sector,” he said.
According to Pakistan Poultry Association Chairman Rai Mansab Ali Kharal, more than two million people are related to the poultry industry for their bread and butter. He said the future of this sector seemed very promising as the commerce minister had ensured that the government would explore larger markets like Middle East to export chicken meat.
Rai said the expo had set a new trend in exhibition business, and the PPA would ensure organising this event for betterment of the industry in future. The general council meeting meanwhile praised the PPA chairman’s efforts.
