India deploys two more brigades along LoC
After failing on the diplomatic front to defend its unjust occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, India has seemingly stepped up to war mode as heavy and medium scale, ground-based ordnance was moved to front trenches on Friday along the Line of Control (LoC).
The movement of arms to theLoC initiated after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting in the war room in the capital New Delhi on Thursday, which was attended by the chiefs of all three armed forces. India’s Chief of the Army Staff General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Chief of Naval Staff, Sunil Lamba and National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval briefed the premier during the meeting over potential targets.
In the occupied Kashmir, India deployed two more brigades, about 10,000 more army personnel, along the LoC on Friday. The two brigades were in addition to one brigade recently deployed in South Kashmir, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.
One full brigade has been lifted from Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh and another from Udhampur in occupied Kashmir and shifted to the Kashmir Valley, mainly along the LoC.
With the deployment of two more brigades, the total number of troops deployed in the Valley has reached 15,000.
According to reports, India could target defence installations of Pakistan in the Azad Kashmir region using the artillery setup in Charri Maidan of Uri in Baramulla District and army camps in Mohra, Boniyar and Sonamarg. It could also launch an attack in Siachin or target some naval installations.
Indian movement along the Line of Control started after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the 71st session of the General Assembly of United Nations on Wednesday about the decades-long Indian occupation of Kashmir.
Kashmiris have been fighting for their right to self-determination and freedom for over seven decades as India has never come true to its promises made in the past of holding a referendum and giving the locals an opportunity to choose whether they want to side with Pakistan or not.
