ECP denies procurement of biometric machines from India

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) categorically denied media reports about procurement of biometric machines from India.

In a statement, the spokesperson said the ECP has neither allowed nor accepted any Indian firm to participate in the procurement process of electronic voting or biometric machines.

The spokesperson said the ECP has already taken extra precautionary measures that it will be mandatory for qualified firms to be security cleared from top intelligence agencies of the country.

The spokesperson further clarified that the ECP is in process of procuring 400 electronic voting machines and 300 biometric verification machines for the pilot projects only.
