Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik, who was part of the Test team that claimed the number one spot in the ICC rankings, feels the team is prepared to top the other formats of the game as well.
The all-rounder said the upcoming series against West Indies is not going to be easy because the Windies are world T20 champions.
However, Pakistan is aiming to be world No.1 and trying hard to be the best in ODIs and Twenty20s as well, said Malik in a press release issued from Dubai.
“The cricketers are trying their best and even though we haven’t been playing international cricket in our country we have played against very good sides and beat them in their home conditions,” he said.
“But yes we are well prepared. We played well against England even though it was a single game. We have got some decent youngsters and I think it’s going to be a great battle between the two teams,” he said.
Pakistan are to play three T20s, three ODIs and three Tests against West Indies, with the first T20 beginning today (Friday).
Pakistan are led by Sarfraz Ahmed, while Carlos Brathwaite heads the West Indies team.
The second match would be played on September 24 while the third face-off would be on September 27.
Pakistan cricket team has got a lot of talent but they fail to execute their plans most of the time. I would say that Pakistan ODI and T20 team is well equipped with batsman, bowlers and allrounders. Proper execution of plans and playing under pressure is key to win games. Pakistan started well by winning first T20, but winning T20 series, ODI series and Test series should be the target.
