Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana said on Friday that education gave understanding but knowledge gave more awareness.

“Degree is of no use but knowledge gives benefit to human being,” he said while addressing the fifth convocation of University of Wah held at the auditorium of the university.

The Punjab governor stressed upon the students that their career was beginning that day and wherever they would go, they would have to sacrifice for the motherland.

He paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan armed forces and officials of law enforcement agencies who laid down their lives for the country and said the whole nation was proud of their sacrifices which would be remembered forever.

He said the students should play their role for the progress of the country. He was appreciative of the standard the university had achieved.

Some 1,101 students were conferred undergraduate and graduate degrees in the disciplines of engineering, basic sciences, computer sciences, management sciences and social sciences and humanities. At least 36 high achievers were awarded gold medals by the Punjab governor.

Earlier, in his opening address, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaliqur Rehman Shad apprised the audience about the salient achievements of the university since its inception.
