The British Council would provide 100 master trainers to Technical Educational and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) for spoken English course.

These master trainers would train our students as well as teachers across Punjab. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed to start this program soon, said TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while talking with a three-member delegation of British Council at TEVTA Secretariat.

Director English Arzu E Daniel, Punjab Education and English Language Director Tony Fisher, Director Neil Winston, Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, Amir Aziz and others were also present on this occasion.

The TEVTA chairman said our trained manpower was lacking fluency in spoken english. Due to this, they faced problems in speaking English in renowned organisations abroad. The collaboration of British Council with TEVTA would improve English speaking power of our enrolled trainees.

At present, TEVTA, on the recommendation of the industry concerned, was offering short courses. One-third duration of every course would be reserved for spoken English. After successful completion of training period, enhanced English language skills would be beneficial for trained manpower for better employment opportunities at national and international level, he added.

British Council English Director Arzu E Daniel in his address said the British Council is working in arts, education, english and examinations across the country to build connections between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The efforts of TEVTA for the promotion of technical education and vocational training in the province of the Punjab were commendable. Enhanced English language skills would be helpful for increasing employment opportunities for TEVTA graduates.
