Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ably presented the Kashmir issue in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by correctly portraying Indian army’s brutalities in Kashmir putting forth genuine demands at the world forum.

In a statement on Thursday, he said that Pakistan sent a positive message to the struggle of Kashmiris for liberation and their right to self-determination. He said the Kashmiris’ struggle had reached a historic stage and they were offering unparalleled sacrifices.

The JI secretary general, however, said it was high time that the prime minister framed a comprehensive Kashmir policy in the follow up of his address at the UNGA and brought all the political parties and civil society on the same page on the issue for continuing a unified struggle because New Delhi was not expected to mend its ways by a single address of the premier.

Meanwhile, while talking to a delegation of Universal Justice Network, he said it was strange that Pakistan had always been raising the issues of human rights, including Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Iraq, but the world community and human rights bodies were silent on the tyranny of the Bangladesh government and the brutalities of the occupation forces in Kashmir and Afghanistan.

The delegation assured the JI leader that it would raise its voice on the violations of human rights in Kashmir, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The delegation expressed deep grief over the reports of Indian brutalities on the Kashmiris.
