The police will make foolproof security arrangements during Muharramul Haram besides implementing a plan in letter and spirit in this regard.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Capt (r) Muhammad Amin Vains said this while presiding over a meeting with Ulema and organisers of Majalis and processions at Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh on Thursday.
He said special control room would be set up for monitoring all Majalis and processions. Dolphin and officials of Police Response Unit would patrol around sensitive Majalis and Imambarghas, he added.
He directed all divisional SPs to meet members of peace committee in their respective areas and discuss the security plan.
He stressed upon the Ulema to play their role in promoting peace, love, brotherhood and inter-faith harmony.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, SSP Operations Muntazar Mehdi, SP Security Rana Tahir Rehman besides Ulema, including Khawaja Basharat Karbali, Agha Shah Hassan Qazalbash and Allama Mushtaq Hussain Jafari were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Haider Ashraf said police would conduct a search operation in the city on daily basis. Security had been kept high alert in entry and exit points of the city. Walk-through gates, metal detectors and barbed wires would be installed for foolproof security, he added.
Officials of the civil defence, bomb disposal squad, district administration and other departments will also perform duty during Muharram.
