13-year-old killed in IHK, death toll rises to 105

In the ongoing violence in Kashmir, a 13-year-old girl was killed and more than 100 were injured after Indian forces used brute force to disperse protesters in Shopian, reported Kashmir Media Service.

The recent killing has raised the death toll to 105.

The 13-year-old girl, Khushboo Jan, a student of 7th class, suffered cardiac arrest after Indian police and troops resorted to excessive force on the protesters near Chatwatan area of Shopian district. She was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

Witnesses said that Government High School Chatwatan went up in flames when a teargas shell fired by the forces’ personnel landed inside it, said Kashmir Media Service.

“The building suffered an extensive damage,” they said.

“A residential house, a cowshed and apple carton also caught fire after shells landed inside them,” they added.

Meanwhile, over a hundred people were injured, many of them critically, due to the firing of pellets and teargas shells by Indian troops and police in Vihil, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Sopore, Kulgam and other areas of the occupied Kashmir Valley.
