Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has left for New York on Saturday to attend the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and highlight the issue of human rights violations in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).
The PM will hold meetings with the world leaders on the sidelines of the summit to discuss the Indian occupied territory of Kashmir and the regional situation.
Furthermore, PM Nawaz will be leading a delegation of Pakistan in the General Assembly session. He will address the UNGA session on Wednesday to elaborate Pakistan’s position, role and contribution on key international issues.
The Foreign Office in Islamabad in a statement has said that the prime minister will call upon the international community and the United Nations to live up to their promise of the right of self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
PM Nawaz will urge the international community to award adequate political attention and support for the voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan and their reintegration in Afghanistan.
