PeeCee on being one of TV’s highest paid

She has been wowing the west for a while now. After her outing in the hit TV show Quantico, Priyanka Chopra will play the role of the villain in the film adaptation of Baywatch, alongside the world’s highest-paid actor (as per a Forbes list) Dwayne Johnson. Now, she has made it to the Forbes list of the highest-paid TV actresses in the world.

An article from the magazine reads, “Chopra may be relatively new to an American audience, she is one of the most famous faces in India (sic)”. As per the publication, Priyanka’s earnings stand at $11.125 million (approximately `74.38 crores; earnings from June 1, 2015, to June 1, 2016). “It feels amazing to be recognised for the work that I am doing. I’m grateful for the acknowledgement,” says the actor.

Priyanka is even happier about being part of this coveted list because, right now, TV in the US is the hottest it has ever been. The current period is being called the ‘Golden Age’ of television in the country. Interestingly, the magazine has also noted that Priyanka’s “millions are not made from screen time alone”. “Chopra is one of India’s top picks for advertisers, recently winning a seven-figure deal with a sparkling juice brand,” the article reads.

Topping the Forbes list is Modern Family star Sofia Vergara. The Colombian star has topped the world’s highest-paid TV actresses list for the fifth year in a row. Also featured on the list are Kaley Cuoco, famous for playing Penny in The Big Bang Theory, and Stana Katic, the lead in Castle, among others.

When it comes to her B-Town projects, Priyanka, who has delivered powerful performances in films such as Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), is yet to announce a new acting venture. Meanwhile, she is also producing a Marathi film.
