Indian PM Narendra Modi’s birthday cake to break Guinness World Record

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turns 66 this year, is celebrating his birthday in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, with his mother Hiraben.

While this is a grand occasion to celebrate, what has emerged even bigger is his birthday cake. A Surat-based bakery, Atul Bakery in India has reportedly created the world’s tallest pyramid cake for this occasion.

A team of 20 chefs worked together to bake what was reportedly the world’s tallest pyramid cake, concocted with flavours of chocolate and berry. The entire pyramid is made with over 10,000 blocks which are neatly stacked together.

The chefs aimed to make the cake tall enough so that it can enter the Guinness World Book of Records. The Surat-based bakery, Atul Bakery, has collaborated with an NGO called Shakti Foundation which works for the empowerment of rural women. The cake is an ode to his efforts towards women empowerment; with campaigns such as Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao.

The cake which is over eight foot tall weighs a staggering 3,750 kilogrammes according to The Financial Express. “We have already taken pre-approval and guidelines of the same from Guinness Team,” Sonal Rochani, co-founder of Shakti Foundation said. The cake is said to be cut by girls from various tribal areas and distributed among them as well as others.

Organisers are optimistic and say the cake stands a very strong chance of breaking the world record.

The Indian prime minister visited his mother in Gandhinagar where she is residing with Modi’s brother.

According to Times of India, the current record for the tallest birthday cake is held by the MTR Rzeszow International Fair in Rzeszow, Poland. The cake was nearly six feet tall and weighed 720.8 kilogrammes.

The bright coloured cake has Twitter abuzz as people wished the prime minister many happy returns for the day.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior BJP leader LK Advani, among others, wished him on his birthday, along with hundreds of important personalities from across the globe.
