Meeting held to review OMT project

70 U-tube girders have been prepared to construct the track of Orange Line Metro Train (OMT) and their installation on the track will begin by next week. This was disclosed in the steering committee’s meeting held on Friday to review the progress on the OMT project.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman Khawaja Hassan Ahmad, who told the members that 670 U-tube girders will be installed within package 1 (Dera Gujran to McLeod Road) and after the installation of these girders the shape of the OMT route will be visible.

The meeting was further told that the principal office of Baghbanpura College and boundary walls and sewerage system of Islamia High School received damages during construction which have now been repaired.

“Work is in process to construct new block for 13 class rooms of Girls High School Chapar Stop while the construction works for the six class rooms of Kinnard Girls School at Empress Road have been initiated”, the meeting was briefed.

Khawaja Hassan ordered the completion of construction work in all the educational institutes affected during OMT construction prior to the start of winter season.

Meeting was informed that the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd (SNGPL) has changed gas pipelines in 11 KM area while it has also restored the gas supply to 300 consumers for which Punjab government has paid rupees 220 million to the SNGPL.

All the concerned officials present in meeting were ordered to take all necessary safety measures during construction.

The meeting was attended among others by DG LDA Nabeel Javed, Chief Engineer TEPA Saif ur Rehman, MD WASA Chaudhary Naseer Ahmad.
