Islamabad mayor for protecting perks and privileges of CDA employees

The month-long row over the fate of thousands of employees of Capital Development Authority (CDA) took a turn for the better when Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Ansar Aziz assured their representatives that not only existing perks of CDA employees would be protected but more steps would be taken for their welfare.

He further said that all officers and officials of the authority will work as a team to make Islamabad more beautiful and model city of the world. He expressed these views in a meeting held at CDA Headquarters. The meeting was attended by CDA Mazdoor Union (CBA) General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Labour Union General Secretary Amanullah Khan, senior officers of CDA, members of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and representatives of labour unions.

Aziz said restoring the credibility of CDA and confidence of residents of city is top priority of both MCI and CDA. In this regard, professional expertise of authority’s employees would be utilised, he added.

“With the cooperation of CDA employees, we can end the trend of hiring the services of the officers from other departments. Transfer of functions between MCI and CDA is legally binding but all existing rights of CDA employees would be ensured,” he said.

The CDA chairman also reiterated that in future, a comprehensive strategy would be evolved for the welfare of CDA employees and the services of CDA employees are commendable in making Islamabad a beautiful city, but more efforts are required to make it a modern metropolis of the world.

CBA Union Leaders speaking at the occasion extended full cooperation of CDA employees in the development of the capital and said it is their prime responsibility to protect the rights of CDA employees.
