PAT Chief Tahirul Qadri departs for London

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri Thursday had departed for London with an objective to approach international organisations over the Model Town tragedy labelling it as an act of ‘state-sponsored terrorism’.

Party leaders and workers accompanied Qadri to Lahore airport early Thursday. He would meet a lawyers’ panel today and consult them to file a case pertaining to the Model Town carnage in the European Court of Human Rights.

Earlier while speaking to media outside his residence in Lahore, the PAT chief said that the second round of his ‘Qisas’ drive could be initiated any time. He said the decision not to march on Raiwind was taken on moral grounds, but warned that if closed all doors for justice then it would not be beyond the realm of possibility.

Qadri also said that his party will participate in PTI’s Tehreek-e-Ehtisab until the end and a future course of action will be carved with the consultation of opposition parties.

Earlier a PAT spokesman confirmed the purpose of Qadri’s visit to London on Wednesday night.

On June 17, 2014, at least 11 PAT workers were killed and over 100 injured in clashes with police in Lahore’s Model Town area.
