Ever since news of Kareena’s pregnancy made headlines, the actor has been repeatedly asked about the gender of her baby.
According to The Asian Age, the mom-to-be is tired of hearing the same question over and over again, “Wherever I go these days, there’s just one question Saif and I are asked, which I think is quite intrusive — ‘is it a boy or is it a girl? Have you found out?’ and I am like, ‘Excuse me? What difference does it make?’ I am a girl. I would love to have a girl. What is the difference? I think I have done probably more for my parents and my family than a son would,” said Kareena.
Speaking of being a part of Global Poverty Project and Global Education, the actress said, “I think my first reaction, as an expectant mother on this journey, was that nothing would make me happier than to be part of a movement that supports gender equality. Not just for me or my child, but for the millions and millions of children out there.”
She added, “All those people who think that a girl child is considered a taboo or considered not equal enough, not up to par with a man, you must know a woman is the only soul that has the right to carry life in her and that is truly something that is a joy.”
Pointing out the problem with India’s approach towards marriage and pregnancy when it comes to working women, Kareena feels people need to stop asking her whether she will continue working after giving birth.
Kareena Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Veere Di Wedding alongside Sonam Kapoor. The film is being directed by Sonam’s sister Rhea Kapoor and is scheduled to start shooting in March
