Seven killed in road accident near Tando Adam

At least seven people were killed including women, children and seven sustained injuries when a bus carrying passengers collided with a van near Tando Adam.

The coach en route to Tando Adam from Sanghar and the fishermen van coming to Sanghar from Sajawal crashed into each other near Shah Baig Murree.

Seven people who died on the spot have been identified as Zahra, Somar, Hawa, Umer, Jaman and Nasreen whereas one body is yet to be recognised.

The injured have been shifted to the Tando Adam Hospital, police said.

The bus driver was also injured in the accident. Police has detained the driver and an investigation is underway.

The passenger bus had set off from Karachi for Sanghar.

Coach driver escaped from the scene after the accident. The fishermen community was going to Sanghar for labour.

Poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving are cited as common reasons behind accidents in Pakistan. More than 4,600 people were killed in road traffic accidents in 2013, which is the last year the government released official data on the matter.
