Security arrangements finalised at Lahore zoo for Eid holidays

Wildlife and Parks Punjab Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan said that special arrangements have been finalised for the protection of visitors at Lahore Zoo during Eid-ul-Azha holidays. He appealed the visitors to cooperate with security staff so that they could ensure their fool proof security.

He was talking to media during his visit to Lahore Zoo to check security arrangements for the visitors.  Lahore Zoo Director Shafqat Ali and Deputy Director Headquarters Muhammad Naeem Bhatti were also present on the occasion.

Khalid Ayaz Khan said six walkthrough gates including four at Shahrah-e- Quaid-e-Azam and two at Lawrence Road gate have been installed while 8 metal detectors have also been given to the security staff for manual checking. He said that, for the convenience of handicapped, old and sick persons, six wheel chairs have been made available for this purpose at both the gates of the zoo.

Khalid Ayaz said that in order to cope with the rush of visitors additional ticket booths would be set up so that long queues for tickets could be avoided. He further said that for the purpose of better management regarding security, apart from officials of Wildlife Department, an additional staff has also been deputed at Lahore zoo. He said that important telephone numbers has been displayed at prominent places to facilitate the people in case of any emergency. He said that in order to ensure security measures, Special Branch staff would also remain present at Lahore Zoo during Eid holidays.

Besides checking security arrangements, DG Wildlife also visited cafeteria of the zoo and checked the prices and expiry dates of the eatables and expressed his satisfaction.
