Ranveer Singh to perform at Coldplay concert in India

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh will be sharing the stage alongside British rock band Coldplay at the debut edition of the Global Citizen Festival on November 19 in Mumbai, Indian Express reports.

Ranveer will be toplining the list of Indian performers at the Global Citizen 2016 festival, which also marks Coldplay’s maiden gig in the country, read a statement.

The Befikre star will share the stage with the rock band to present a medley.

“With this performance, Singh follows up on his recent stage performance alongside Major Lazer. He was one of the most obvious choices to open for Coldplay,” a source reported.

To be held for the very first time in the country, the concert will also boast of names such as Jay Z, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, AR Rahman and Deepika Padukone.

Ranveer has been in the news lately not only for his recent box office hits — ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ but also for his string of endorsements and his ultra cool social media posts. Hence, he was a natural choice to be a part of the concert. The six-hour long concert, which will take place in November this year, will witness Ranveer perform to some of his biggest hits on stage.

The Global Citizen Campaign is organising several concerts around the world to bring awareness to the troubling issue of poverty. It will begin with an event this month in New York with Rihanna, Demi Lovato and a host of other big names. The Mumbai concert will feature several live musical performances and even short films. World leaders such as UN secretary general Ban Ki Moon and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are also expected to attend and speak about the importance of fighting poverty.

Several other local and international celebrities will also be a part of the show. The event will be held on November 19 in Mumbai.
