16,150 cops to be deployed for Eid security

As many as 16,150 police personnel will be deployed on security on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha in Karachi, a Sindh police spokesperson announced on Sunday.

According to report, 16,150 police personnel and officers will perform their duties for the security of 3,143 Mosques, 207 Imam Bargahs, 439 Eidgahs and other places of worship. The police will also be deployed on 794 places where the hides of the sacrificial animals will be gathered.

The spokesperson said that 418 mobiles and 202 motorcyclists and the personnel of Special Branch and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) will assist the police in the implementation of the plan.

Sindh Inspector General AD Khawaja issued directives to police for making a contingency security plan for Eid-ul-Azha that includes the implementation of section 144 regarding the collection of sacrificial animals’ hides.

According to police spokesperson, while reviewing the contingency plan for Eid, the IGP has ordered foolproof security measures for mosques, Imambargahs and Eid-gahs so that the lives of the citizens can be made safe.

He directed all the concerned SSPs, SDPs, and SHOs to form special teams of police that be deployed near mosques and Eidgahs for the security of citizens and to ensure proper patrolling near worshipping places and other sensitive areas.

The IGP asked his coordinates to make sure the implementation of the contingency plan at all cost with the co-ordination of other agencies as well.

A number of 12,270 personnel will also be deployed in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad for the same purpose.
