Police have completed their investigation in Qandeel Baloch murder case and the suspects would be produced before a local court after Eid, said district public prosecutor Jam Salahuddin.

Salahuddin further said police would oppose the bail application moved by Abdul Basit and request daily hearings. “We want the court to reach a verdict as soon as possible,” he said.

Salahuddin said police would not challenge the bail application of Zafar, another suspect.

“Abdul Basit was arrested for driving the killers to form Multan to Dera Ghazi Khan. Zafar was suspected of provoking Baloch’s brother to kill her.” Salahuddin said police had received mobile phone records of Mufti Abdul Qavi, Haq Nawaz, Waseem and Qandeel Baloch. He said Qandeel Baloch had sent 10 text messages apologising to Mufti Abdul Qavi in their last conversation.

He said Arif, Baloch’s brother who lived in Saudi Arabia, had also called Waseem and urged him to kill her. He said police had sent her mobile phone and iPad to Lahore to obtain more data. Salahuddin said Qandeel Baloch and Qavi had last talked over the phone on June 22 at 6pm.

He said that same day, Qandeel Baloch had sent text messages to Qavi. He did not reply.

He said Qavi’s call record did not show that he was in contact with Baloch’s relatives. Qavi had told police that Qandeel Baloch had wanted to meet Imran Khan and had sought his help for this purpose.
