Zammurd Khan, patron-in-chief of Pakistan Sweet Homes (PSH), on Saturday said that orphan kids, especially in far flung areas were vulnerable to become easy tools for terrorists.
He said the PSH was working for their economic empowerment that would help in reducing terrorism in the country. The business community should come forward and joint hands with PSH to improve the quality of life of orphan kids, he stressed while addressing businessmen at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
He said the PSH was the largest organisation in the country dedicated towards providing shelter and wellbeing to those kids who have lost their families either in natural calamities or due to terrorism within the country. He said with the cooperation of donors, PSH has established 36 centres in all parts of the country, including Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan providing home to 3,600 orphan children and this number was growing day by day.
He said the PHS aimed to expand its network by establishing as many as 50 more centres all across Pakistan. He said PSH Friends Project would launch soon to involve more people in this noble cause. He urged the businessmen to fully cooperate and join hands with PHS to make orphan kids economically empowered so that they could play effective role in the economic development of the country.
In his welcome address, ICCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh lauded the services of Zammurd Khan for dedicating his life for the welfare of orphan kids. He said Islam laid great stress on taking good care of orphans and assured that business community will cooperate with PHS in its mission of providing a better life to orphan kids.
He said leaving orphan kids uncared would make them most vulnerable children and terrorists could exploit them for anti-social activities. He said that businessmen were cooperating with many welfare projects in the country and emphasised that they should join hands with PHS so that it could be able to serve more orphan kids across Pakistan and could play role in making them productive citizens of the country.
At this occasion, many businessmen assured of their cooperation to PHS.
