CDA directed to take measures for waste disposal on Eid

 

Islamabad divided into six zones to ensure cleanliness across the city

 

The authorities have directed all the formations of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to make all out efforts for provision of quality services and collection and disposal of entrails, offals and waste material of sacrificial animals in the Federal Capital during the Eidul Azha.

All formations of CDA have been directed to provide additional machinery and assistance to the Directorate of Sanitation for this operation. Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Shaikh Ansar Aziz gave these directions while reviewing the arrangements in this regard. The mayor asserted that no laxity will be tolerated in this regard.

In order to make this operation successful, Islamabad has been divided into six zones. Zone-I includes F-5, F-6, Blue Area and Bari Imam while zone-II comprises Faisal Mosque, E-7, F-7, F-8, and G-8, areas of sector F-10, F-11, Golra Sharif etc. Zone-IV includes G-9, G-10, G-11 etc, Zone-V includes areas of sector H-8, H-9, H-10, H-11, I-8, I-9, I-10/2, I-11, whereas Zone-VI includes Highway, Model Village Humak, Shehzad Town, Rawal Town and Margalla Town.

On the occasion of Eidul Azha, more than 2,000 workers of Sanitation Directorate, including cleaners, supervisory staff, contractors and their staff, and officers will work round the clock and leaves of entire staff of Sanitation Directorate have been cancelled.

At least 35 deep ditches have been dug out at 16 different locations in entire city where offals and other wastes of sacrificial animals will be deposed off scientifically in line with hygienic standards. Besides, two emergency cells have also been established, one at Transport Section, CDA Fire Headquarters and other one at Sanitation Directorate, Sector G-6 which would be functional round the clock.

The workers would be equipped with more than 100 vehicles, tractors and trolleys, compactors, trucks, dumpers, shawal and dozers etc. He was further apprised that special teams have been constituted for maintaining the cleanliness at Eid and Imam Bargahs whereas staff will also be deputed to sprinkle lime stone around the garbage trolleys and at sacrificial places.

It has requested the citizens of the federal capital to cooperate with CDA staff and not to throw offal and other waste material of sacrificial animals in the green areas rather keep it in front of their houses so that sanitation workers could easily pick and dispose of waste properly.
