3,000 policemen to maintain law and order in capital during Eidul Azha

At least 3,000 policemen will be deployed to guard worship places and measures for effective patrolling in various areas of the city will be taken according to a security plan issued by Islamabad Police for Eidul Azha.

Following the special directions of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Masood Yasin, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani has devised a comprehensive security plan for the occasion of Eidul Azha.

In line with the security plan, 3000 policemen would perform security duties during Eid days and guard religious gatherings at open places, Mosques and Imam Bargahs. In this regard, leaves of Islamabad police have also been cancelled.

The police officials have been assigned security duties at 824 places, including 796 mosques, 21 Imam Bargahs and seven open places. Special security arrangements have been made for Faisal Mosque and special police pickets would also be erected around it.

The bomb disposal squad (BDS) would conduct checking of various areas, and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregations. Beat systems have been introduced for security at main shopping centres, markets and additional deployment of policemen would be ensured for security. The contingents of mobile reserve police would be a part of security measures at important shopping centres, including Jinnah Super, Super Market, F-10 and Aabpara Market.

The policemen have been assigned duties at bus terminals, graveyards and railway stations along with metro stations. The policemen would patrol in various sectors and contingents of Pakistan Rangers and police commandoes will assist police in these security duties.

Special directions have been issued to Islamabad police to remain on high alert, fully prepared and vigilant to avert any untoward situation in the capital during Eid holidays. In this regard, all wings of Islamabad Police will coordinate with each other and share information.

Special patrolling plan has also been chalked out for which 100 police vehicles have been deployed for patrolling which will remain high alert to tackle any untoward incident. Police teams have been constituted for patrolling in various urban sectors and rural areas. Keeping in view the rush of visitors at public places, security measures have also been taken at Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Yasmin Garden, Monal, Lake View Park, Chattar Park and Centauras.

The patrolling vehicles/eagles and the officials deployed at Mosques, Imam Bargahs and other places of worship will take notice of beggars hovering around these places and shift them to police station concerned in patrolling vehicle.

As a part of security measures, police pickets will be erected at all important entry and exit points for checking of vehicles.
