An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended judicial remand of three persons accused in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case to 14 days.

During the course of hearing, lawyer Zeeshan Cheema filed a bail plea with the court.

The judge, Kausar Abbas Zaidi, inquired of FIA investigation officer Shahzad Zafar why a prosecutor had not been appointed so far in the case.

The investigation officer told the court that certain names were sent to the Interior Ministry, but it rejected them all.

The court, while expressing displeasure, remarked as to why the FIA DG not be summoned for clarification of his position on the matter. The court also remarked if the FIA did not want to run the case seriously then it should inform the court.

The court meanwhile extended judicial remand of the accused for 14 days and adjourned the hearing till September 22.
