Farhan, Shraddha spark ‘Magik’ in Rock On 2 teaser

Finally, the cat is out of the bag!

Several years after we saw the grunge rock band on screen, the sequel brings us up to speed. For some reason, Magik — comprising Aditya (Farhan Akhtar), Joseph (Arjun Rampal), KD (Purab Kohli) — hasn’t performed for a while.

But they’re finally reuniting for a gig. To replace their former buddy and keyboardist Rob (Luke Kenny) who is shown to have succumbed to a brain tumour in the original, they’ve brought in a new musician — played by Shraddha Kapoor.

The one-and-a-half minute teaser gives us a glimpse of the band’s new avatar. As the teaser unfolds, we see Shraddha playing a keyboard who goes on to becomes the band’s vocalist.

The teaser begins with Aditya Shroff (Farhan) addressing the audience of the reason his band ‘Magik’ is back which is followed by Shraddha Kapoor’s entry. Farhan is seen telling Shraddha to make music and sing as not everyone has the kind of talent she possesses. ‘Rock On 2’ is like an old wine packed in a new bottle with similar background scores and cinematography.

The film focuses on the conflict in the North-East region of India. A major portion of the same has been shot in Shillong. Reportedly, it also includes a folk song in Khasi and a popular local band called Somersault.

Well, we’ll have to wait for the film to release in order to know all about it. We also witness a glimpse of other characters in the teaser. The film promises to be an emotional roller coaster premised on the characters pursuing their passion for music.

Rock On!! was released in 2008.  Rock On!! 2 is directed by Shujaat Saudagar.

The film is slated to release on November 11 and the teaser has already left us pepped up. Meanwhile, feast your eyes on the second poster of the film shared by Shraddha on Twitter.

  1. Magik is back! The Rock On team is finally back after 8 years.

    The all-male band now has a female voice in Shraddha Kapoor. We will also be seeing Shashank Arora as a new entrant.

    The teaser of the film talks about how the band comes back together after a gap of several years. The film will continue from where the first part was left; Farhan apparently had settled in rural areas. We can see him in different looks in the teaser. It looks from the teaser that his character will be motivating Shraddha’s character in pursuing her passion for music.
