At least seven more offices of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were pulled down in Karachi on Monday, the latest action in a demolition spree against ‘illegally constructed’ party offices, according to officials.
The offices were razed in Pak Colony, North Nazimabad and Qalandaria Chowk of Karachi on Monday, taking the toll to 120.
Officials of the Karachi Development Authority accompanied by contingents of police and Rangers demolished the offices.
Police said the offices were constructed on parks, public and encroached lands.
The demolished offices included MQM unit number 186, 187, 190 and 191, and one sector office.
So far, 120 party offices have been flattened in Karachi and other cities and over 200 sealed in a crackdown triggered by an inflammatory speech by party chief Altaf Hussain and ensuing violence in Karachi on August 22.
The incident of violence on August 22 claimed the life of a man and left eight others wounded.
