Potable water is the basic right of every individual and one of the prerequisite for healthy and hygienic living. The importance of clean drinking water cannot be overstated when it comes to preventing infection, illness and death in countries like Pakistan. Therefore, the news that more than 90 per cent brands of mineral water are unregistered is not only alarming but also depicts the indifference and apathy of authorities concerned. Since it is mandatory for mineral water companies to get their water brands registered with the Drug Regulation Authority Pakistan therefore, strict action must be taken against all those companies who are selling water in the country without registration. As provision of clean drinking water is among the priorities of the government therefore, every effort should be made to materialise the dream of availability of potable water into reality.
