Hundreds of people were injured when Indian troops in Indian occupied Kashmir used brute force to prevent people from staging demonstrations and conducting marches towards Tehsil headquarters against civilian killings in the Kashmir Valley.

Call for holding of the demonstrations and marches was jointly given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, to register protest against the killing spree unleashed by Indian forces in the territory, KMS reported.

The Hurriyet leaders had appealed to the people to offer Juma prayers in their respective Tehsil headquarters.

The puppet authorities continued to impose the strict curfew and other restrictions across the Kashmir Valley on the 57th consecutive day..

Hurriyet leaders were kept under illegal detention. People were not allowed to offer Juma prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid and other major mosques of the territory.

Defying curfew and other restrictions, people in large numbers took to the streets in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, Islamabad, Baramulla, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and other areas and held massive demonstrations against the killings.

They shouted pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. They also waved Pakistani flags. Indian troops and police personnel fired pellets, bullets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters at various places injuring hundreds of people.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the ongoing Kashmir Intifada has risen to 88 with the killing of a 12-year-old boy, Danish Sultan, by Indian troops. The troops had chased Danish Sultan last evening, forcing him to jump into river Jhelum and his body was fished out.

Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of the martyred boy raising high-pitched slogans in favour of freedom and against India.

A complete shutdown was observed in Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Gandoh areas of Jammu region against the harassment and arrest of people and against civilian killings in the Kashmir Valley.

Hurriyet leaders, Syed Ali Gilani and Maulana Abbas Ansari, in their statements in Srinagar urged the Kashmiri people to boycott the Indian parliamentary delegation which is coming to occupied Kashmir after passing a resolution that Kashmir was an integral part of India.
