The proclamation by the Premier Nawaz Sharif that load shedding will soon end calls for applause as it provides relief to the public at large who have to face blackouts more often than not. Since electricity is indispensable and essential for the socio-economic development of Pakistan therefore, the government is bent upon paying special attention to meet the energy demands of the country on a priority basis. Due to the untiring efforts by the government, a total of 11,131 megawatts will be added to the national grid by March 2018. The government is not only working to meet the energy shortfall but is also catering to future energy needs of the country. It is hoped that the increased power generation would result in increased economic growth, industrial activity and last but not the least foreign investment.
