Like all other countries of the world, Pakistan is also known as a land of adventure and nature. Naturally gifted with heart ravishing beauty, exotic landscapes, lush-green surroundings, dazzling deep blue oceans, vast deserts and desolate tracks, Pakistan can be a great attraction for tourists and people who love exploring the nature’s beauty. Geographically, our country is as rich as it could be.

Even after so many years of independence, Pakistan has been unlucky in thriving through its tourism industry. Tourism in Pakistan needs a kick start to be as alive as its natural beauty.

The obstacle faced by travelers and tourists is the sheer absence of any tourism facility in Pakistan, be it a Pakistani citizen or a foreigner. Tourists are unaware of travel options and protocols and often end up making last minute travel and booking arrangements. Inflation is considered another major cause of the failure of tourism industry.

Similarly, one of the greatest problems is the law and order situation. Terrorism has not only crippled the lives of people but is also encasing a negative image of Pakistan worldwide. Another problem that hinders the growth of tourism industry is expensive traveling. Traveling is considered to be a luxurious activity, calling for money. High priced traveling and hotels have made Pakistan a place that is beyond the reach and affordability of tourists.

The tourism industry acts as the backbone of the economy in the developed states. Not only developed but, if planned properly, tourism can lead to the success of any nation. Tourism is turning into a high income industry worldwide. Pakistan offers all kinds of tourist’s attractions with stunning destinations that can facilitate in regaining the lost interest of tourism amongst people.

Here, it is important to mention the hotel booking website Jovago, which is playing a distinctive role in re-establishing the tourism industry of Pakistan. They have come up with an Online Hotel booking website that offers customers convenient hotel booking facility that best suits their needs. Apart from giving customers easy access to travel, it creates the impression to foreign travelers that tourism is an established industry within the country. In addition to this; they are working hard to highlight the beauty of Pakistan with their travel blog that aims to facilitate travelling by providing information and content that customers can rely on. According to the Director Business Development of Beach Luxury Hotel Rehan Wahid “The rate of hotel occupancy has surged to 80% (on an average) across the country compared to 35% before the current calendar year started”

The media could further play a vital role in projecting a positive image of Pakistan worldwide. This will attract more individuals to the diverse terrains and culture in the country. The media truly has the power to change perceptions and influence mindsets positively.

Likewise, to be successful on this front, Pakistan has to take a stand to overcome its weaknesses. The Government of Pakistan should take the responsibility and incorporate other authorized bodies to develop and maintain law and order and to ensure that our cultural heritage is kept intact.

  1. The tourism is a luxury item by any standard such as expensive cars and jewelry. You as a country and society have to set a stage either by reputation or publicity to attract the tourists I was a gradate student in 1967 and had taken part in a research program conducted by PIA and Department of Tourism. My job was to take survey samples at the Karachi airport. I heard again and again the same comment from travelers all over the world, that is the safety, transportation and good hotels were the main concern. Today it is obvious that we can not sell a tour to Pakistan at any cos given the conditions in Pakistan. People refuse to go on even job assignments to Pakistan. I have to say, " Deserve and then desire. " People who spend money of vacation are no idiots.
