A local court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of the currency smuggling case against model Ayyan Ali till September 20.

The proceeding of the case started after Ayyan arrived late in the court for hearing. The counsel for the model informed the court that his client’s flight was delayed due to which she could not reach for the case hearing on time.

It should be noted that the court hearing the currency smuggling case against the model Ayyan had ordered the authorities concerned to produce her at all cost.

In an informal talk with the media after court proceedings, Ayyan denied any link in the murder of Customs Inspector Ejaz Mehmood, who was in-charge of the team that had held Ayyan. She said that she was in prison when the incident took place.

“I have sent my written statement over the incident to police via court,” Ayyan said.

Customs Inspector Mehmood was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his house in June last year.

Ayyan was arrested by Airport Security Force at the Benazir International Airport on March 14, 2015 after more than $500,000 were found stashed in her luggage.
