Policeman suspended over taking bribe

Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sajid Kiani on Tuesday terminated a policeman for taking bribe from a truck driver, a police spokesman said.

He said that Constable Safdar, serving at Sabzi Mandi Police Station, faced allegations of taking bribe from a truck driver. On inquiry, he was found guilty and SSP Kiani ordered to immediately terminate him. He has been arrested by Sabzi Mandi police after registration of case against him.

The Islamabad SSP said that corruption in Islamabad police is intolerable and no relaxation would be given to those involved in such practices and bringing bad name to the department. He said that Islamabad police is pursuing policy of zero tolerance against corruption and menace of corruption would be rooted out from the department.

He said that cases would be registered against policemen involved in corruption and strict accountability would be ensured against black sheep in the department.
