A local court in Karachi on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of 12 leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), including Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar and Khawaja Izhar, in a case pertaining to a protest staged outside the Chief Minister’s House over the issue of water shortage in June this year.
According to details, the judicial magistrate who took up the case expressed resentment over continuous absence of Waseem Akhtar from the hearing and granted him one-day exemption.
The court directed to complete the investigation as early as possible and ordered to present the accused during the next hearing.
