NA body condemns Altaf Hussain’s remarks

National Standing Committee on Law and Justice on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the remarks of Mutahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain against the country.

The committee met under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk which was attended by Members National Assembly (MNAs) Justice (r) Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema, Muhammad Moeen Wattoo, Sardar Muhammad Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa, Kiran Haider, Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar, Asiya Naz Tanoli, Shagufta Jumani, Ali Muhammad Khan, Dr Arif Alvi, Aisha and movers of the bills Sahibzada Tariqullah, Sher Akber Khan and Shahida Akhtar Ali.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Dr Arif Alvi moved the resolution against the MQM chief regarding passing inappropriate remarks against the sovereignty of the country.

The committee recommended that the government should forward a plea to the United Kingdom government against Altaf Hussain.

The body considered the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Amendment of Order XVII rule 1 of 1908) moved by Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Substitution of Section 89-A) moved by Dr Arif Alvi, Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Amendment of Section 33) moved by Sher Akber Khan, Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Amendment of Article 175 of the constitution) moved by Shahida Akhtar Ali and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Insertion of new Article-19-B in the constitution) moved by Munaza Hassan in detail.
