Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that implementation of various measures was being ensured for the protection of women and their economic empowerment.
Addressing a departmental meeting, the minister said that harassment committees were being set up in all provincial departments under the harassment act. She said that incidents of acid throwing on women had decreased and cases against the accused involved in this crime were being sent to anti-terrorism courts.
She said that implementation of the law regarding inheritance was also being ensured.
Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that interest-free loans were being given to women for setting up small businesses for their economic self-sufficiency.
She said that 14,740 women were given training of various skills under Punjab Skills Development Programme. She further said that 100 house workers would be given training with the cooperation of APWA and ILO. She said that 3070 rural women received training in poultry and veterinary while vocational training of 20,000 women under TEVTA had been completed.
The minister said that monitoring of Women Packages was ongoing so that maximum number of women could benefit from the government’s initiatives.
