At least six ventilators at Benazir General Hospital are non-functional, putting the lives of hundreds of patients at risk.
Sources said there are total 12 ventilators, out of which four are functional while six are out of order. The other two ventilators remain out of order most of the time, sources added. Around 3,000 patients visit the hospital daily.
The Punjab government has approved 40 ventilators but delay in provision of required equipment has further deteriorated the situation.
Ventilator is a machine that is used to provide breathing support mechanically to patients who are incapable of breathing sufficiently.
