Sahiwal Power Project to be completed before stipulated time: Shehbaz

Shendong’s Huwanging Power Generation Company President Wang Wenzong, working on Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today (Sunday).

The pace of progress on the 1320-megawatt Sahiwal Coal Power Project was discussed in the meeting. They expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress and agreed to further speed up the project.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that this project is a milestone in the friendship of Pakistan and China and is being completed expeditiously, which is unprecedented in the world. He said that this project will be completed far early from its stipulated period and it is hoped that its first turbine will start generating electricity in April 2017.

He said that work is being carried out in an unprecedented manner on this energy project. Sharif said that this project is being forwarded speedily and the project of 1320 megawatts production capacity has not been completed in such a short period in the world, including China. He appreciated the hard work of engineers and other staff of Chinese company and said that the professional capabilities and speed of Chinese company to advance the project is exemplary.

He expressed hope that this project will start the generation of electricity with a full capacity in the middle of next year.

Wang Wenzong said that this project will start power generation in the middle of next year. He said that under the vision of CM Shehbaz, no effort will be spared in running the first turbine in April 2017. He said that the CM has extended all out facilities and cooperation and he is thankful to him for that.

The chief minister played an important role in forwarding this project through hard work and determination, he added. The Chinese delegation included Company Vice President Liu Jie, Sahiwal Project Managing Director Liu Chao and other officials. Provincial Minister for Finance Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Planning and Development Chairman, Inspector General Police, Home Secretary, Energy Secretary and concerned authorities were present on the occasion.
