Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan Monday (today) said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lied to the parliament and is destroying all the institutions to cover up corruption.

While talking to the media at Bani Gala he said that his party has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family for allegedly owning offshore accounts named in the Panama Papers.

“The premier has been destroying key institutions to hide corruption,” Imran said.

“Nawaz Sharif lied to the nation in order to transfer wealth abroad,” Imran stated.

He admitted the party had been divided over approaching the apex court.

The PTI chief accused PM Nawaz of lying and cited Article 90 according to which, he said, the prime minister is answerable to the parliament.

“The parliament is filled with all the big thieves,” Imran Khan added.

The PTI chief reiterated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had lost credibility by failing to issue notices in the wake of the Panama Papers controversy.

Imran Khan said he was disappointed with the performance of the Election Commission, adding that September 7 would be the true test of the commission.

The PTI chief also pointed out the alleged inequality between the rich and poor before the law, saying that he had spent eight days in prison to personally see this divide. He said he had seen only poor people in the prison.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan said his party would send delegations to different political parties to formally invite them to join their September 3 rally in Lahore. “We will appear on our container but will also invite all opposition parties to bring their containers too,” he added.

Dismissing reservations that the party would fail to ensure a huge turnout at the rally, he said the PTI would come out with “full force”. He said the prime minister was trying to create doubts about his party’s street agitation. “Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N are products of dictatorship,” he said, adding that democratic parties always reached out to the masses.
