A new emergency block to be inaugurated soon, says CM Shehbaz
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, immediately after his return from Turkey, paid a surprise visit to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) without any protocol, today (Sunday).
He reached the hospital without any prior intimation and inquired from the attendants of the patients present outside emergency ward about the treatment facilities being provided in the hospital. He inquired after the patients in the emergency and inspected the facilities being extended to the patients regarding treatment.
He also issued necessary instructions to hospital administration for the treatment of some patients. Sharif also visited modern lab of the hospital and appreciated the performance of the laboratory, equipped with modern facilities for diagnostic tests of the patients. He reviewed the cleanliness arrangements in washrooms of the hospital and appreciated the hospital administration for best hygienic arrangements.
Some patients and their attendants requested the chief minister free treatment and financial assistance, upon which, he announced free treatment and financial assistance for the poor patients and their attendants on the spot and issued necessary instructions to the administration in this regard. The patients and their attendants expressed satisfaction over treatment facilities in the hospital.
They said that best treatment facilities are available in the hospital, but there is a rush of patients due to which, treatment becomes difficult and doctors cannot pay full attention to the patients. Therefore, the number of beds should be increased in the emergency, they added.
Sharif said that the provision of quality facilities to the common man in the hospitals is his mission and he is paying surprise visits to the hospitals for this purpose. He said that hospitals have been constructed for the treatment of poor patients and poor patients have full right over quality health facilities. That is why, he is personally visiting the hospitals to review the facilities being extended to the patients in the hospitals, he added.
Sharif said that provision of best treatment facilities to the common man is included in his priorities and quality health facilities will be provided to them at every cost. He said that due to the rush of patients in PIC, a new emergency block has been constructed which will be soon inaugurated. He directed the hospital administration to take emergent measures for functioning of the new block at the earliest.
The patients and their attendants, seeing the Chief Minister among them, prayed for his long life. PIC’s Medical Superintendent was also present on the occasion.
