National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has forwarded names of more parliamentarians from the various political parties for inclusion in the list of special envoys nominated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for highlighting the atrocities against the people of Kashmir in key countries.
A spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office said that the office of the NA speaker was previously requested to nominate prominent members for highlighting the Kashmir cause worldwide. It must also be noted that the list issued to media is not exhaustive and the Speaker’s Office was supposed to be sending more names of parliamentarians who would be subsequently added to the list.
Since, the right to self-determination for the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) is a national cause, therefore, full representation from all parties in the envoys’ list is extremely essential.
Names of senators are also awaited. Once the nominations from both the houses of parliament is completed, the designated envoys would be given a detailed briefing at the Foreign Office in view of better advocacy of the Kashmir cause.
